Kanawha and Ohio River Valleys Program
***This program is closed to new applications.***
Since its creation in 1981 through the receipt of a $1 million dollar settlement fee, VEE has awarded significantly more funds than it originally received. The total amount awarded under the Program is over $3 million. Limited to the Kanawha and Ohio River Valleys of Kentucky and West Virginia, the Program supported over 120 grants for research, education, and community action on water quality and the effects of water pollution on public health and the environment. The final two grants VEE awarded under the Program in 2021 are three-year legacy grants to West Virginia Rivers Coalition (https://wvrivers.org ) and Watershed Watch in Kentucky (https://www.kywater.org) in support of each organization’s core mission and future longevity and sustainability.
